Does land that is tapped and destroyed come back into play tapped if brought back from graveyard?

Asked by travadinho 6 years ago

If I tap a land to produce mana and it is then put into the graveyard during the same turn, does it remained tapped if I return it to play? Or is the state of being tapped "undone" (so to speak) upon leaving play?

In other words, if I tap a land for mana and then it is put into the graveyard, can I tap it for more mana upon returning it to play in the same turn? Or does it stay tapped until my next upkeep like tapped lands that never left play?

It will not stay tapped when it returns to the battlefield. Here is the rule:

Rule 400.7: An object that moves from one zone to another becomes a new object with no memory of, or relation to, its previous existence. There are nine exceptions to this rule:

(exceptions ommitted--none are relevant)

Excellent. Seems to make room for potential infinite combos. Thanks for the clarification and quick response!
