Asked by nismonate81 8 years ago

There aren't creatures so I am not sure, and if a creature damages a planeswalker does it fight back?I know loyalty counters are like health so if gets damaged do the counters get restored next turn? Thanks. Also in others words can u use planeswalker abilities first turn?

Planes walkers are not creatures. When they are damaged, that many loyalty counters are removed from it, and they do nothing. At the end of a turn, all damage is removed from creatures,, but not planeswalkers only care about how many loyalty counters they have. Loyalty abilities can be activated the turn the planes walker came into play, as long as you can pay the loyalty cost and it is your turn.

Summoning sickness is shorthand for the rule that prevents creatures from tapping or attacking the turn they've entered the battlefield. What's really happening is that every creature asks "has this card been under this player's control since the beginning of this turn," understanding this is important for cards that become creatures like Gideon Jura. As a Planeswalker, Gideon may activate Planeswalker abilities the turn it enters the battlefield, but if it becomes a creature on that turn it will have summoning sickness and be unable to attack.

Damage dealt to Planeswalkers results in that many loyalty counters being removed from that Planeswalker. It is not like damage that is marked on creatures that goes away at the cleanup step, those counters are lost. Not being creatures, Planeswalkers cannot "fight" or be targeted by spells or abilities that target creatures. If you want to target a Planeswalker the ability must specify Planeswalkers or Permenants like Vindicate or Hero's Downfall. If a spell or ability would deal damage to a player, the controller of that effect may redirect that damage to a Planeswalker that player controls but that doesn't actually change the target of that effect..
