Aura Curses -- Banned?

Asked by AyosireGhosts 5 years ago

This site lists Aura Curses as banned in every format; Wizards of the Coast Official card catalogue doesn't list them as banned at all. Which is correct, and why the misinformation on this site?

It certainly doesn't list all Curses as banned in every format. I have Curse of Verbosity in several of my EDH decks and it checks out just fine. Please be specific and link to cards with errors you've found and the formats/decks they're showing as illegal.

The error is TappedOut's, it is because the database is maintained manually by a very small group. Errors like this are common when new sets are launched, please report them as you find them in the tapped out forum. Specifically, in the incorrect card data thread.

It is probably a site bug, since in Gatherer I couldn't find a single aura curse that is banned. Another thing to consider is that sometimes when a new set launches the cards are available to be put in the decks (they are in the database), but they are tagged as not legal in any format, because either this happens before the official launch of the set or because the site is free and not everything is updated the minute a change occurs.

And as I've seen mentioned elsewhere, for up-to-date legality info, always check the Gatherer. Don't just rely on TappedOut's information.
