What Does Ixalan Mean For Muraganda?

Ixalan appears to be a plane in which dinosaurs live, but WotC apparently already had a plane inhabited by dinosaurs in the form of Muraganda, so why did they need to make another such plane?

This is not the first time that this has happened, as WotC previously discarded the Greek-themed Arkhos in favor of Theros and the Asian/Mongolian-themed Mongseng in favor of Tarkir.

What does everyone else say about this? Why does WotC seem to be so reluctant to give planes introduced in the Planechase products their own blocks?

Ixalan dinosaurs have feathers and Muraganda dinos don't? lol idk

You see vampires and elves and goblins and merfolk and angels across more than half the planes. It's just something they do. It probably helps tie the flavors together in standard

The advantage of a Multiverse is that you aren't limited to one of anything.

greyninja, Epochalyptik, both of those statements make sense, so perhaps there may still be a Muraganda block in the future; I am simply wondering what point there was in creating a new plane when the other plane existed. It seems to me that the main point was that Muraganda is a prehistoric plane with minimal sentient life and virtually no civilization, while Ixalan is a developed plan that does have civilization.

I think they would have to come up with some sort of plan to add some diversity, given you're description of Muraganda. Of course after Ixalan, many will likely cry for more Dino's and that would be a prime opportunity to make more later. They could make other things to go with it... beasts, birds, cats... Add to other tribes, idk just speculating.

Another idea is the new 'Core Set' thing. Reprint things that have flavor with obscure planes (from books/plane chase), and add some new cards like they said. Maybe make a story about some umknown planeswalker bouncing around planes like crazy... Then again, like Epoch said, it is a multiverse, so they aren't obligated to visit every world.

Mj3913, that is true, as there has never been a Shandalar block, but that plane has been featured several times in recent core set, so perhaps Muraganda and other planes that were introduced in Planechase shall be featured in core sets?

The other thing that some players asked for was pirates to make a comeback to, which might be why they did Ixalan. This way, both needs were met, when Muraganda would've probably only met one. Also, Mongseng and Theros may appear in later cards, it just might be that the themes of those sets weren't exactly how they wanted to do those types of planes (but they may in the future).

Tl;dr: Two birds one stone.
