Okay, okay, this might be a little too early, but I am excited AF for the Ixalan draft
So spoilers are coming out each and everyday, and based on that, let's discuss:
Which tribe's going to be fought over in the table?
What tribe would you personally want?
Signalling V.S Going for your fav tribe?
EXTRA: Value Drafting or Drafting to win?

I agree with the Dinosaur tribe being the strongest, I just hope that the players on my draft don't squabble over it. I'd settle for Dino's or Vamps, depending on what's more open. Merfolk aren't an option for me, but their ramp cards are.
As for the Pirates though, I get the whole alt-con win with treasures, but aside from that, I still need convincing as to how they're better than the XLN Vamps. I'd give them 3rd Prio.
I really do feel bad for the Merfolk but maybe that will change after prerelease.

Yeah, so far Merfolk don't seem great. I agree tht dinos will be good, then vamps, then pirates. To be fair though, merfolk are probably the 3rd most powerful tribe ever (behind eldrazi and elves) so maybe it's time for them to not be as good.

Dinosaurs?? We have god damn pirates in the set... Always be yourself, unless you can be a pirate. Then always be a pirate.

filthyc4sual wait what?!? I guess that humans, slivers, goblins, dragons etc. Are not as powerful as merfolks... Damn son!

ROUROU, this and this should show you the truth. Dragons are also more powerful than Merfolk in Legacy and Elves less in Modern, but still pretty in line with what filthyc4sual said.

MagicalHacker and filthyc4sual ummm I'm quite new to MTG, so I don't really have a history on Merfolk gameplay, what do they do exactly?

MagicalHacker well, depends on the playgroup and the format. I have played against modern merfolks and they are SICK. In commander though, they are way slower than elves, goblins, dragons etc. They lack a nice leader. No matter what, we have pirates in the set and it is awesome xD

The recent developments are kinda changing my mind, Merflok +1/+1 and evasion in the new set are pretty neat actually. Mix it with green ramp and oh my, a threat.

Agreeing with the group that dinosaurs are best, followed by vampires and pirates, who are about equal, and merfolk bringing up the rear. I don't think that the gap between all the tribes is too far to make one tribe unplayable, like green in BFZ.
I'm really intrigued by what other fringe archetypes pop up. Especially , because of Varaska. I find it interesting that they didn't have a tribe with her color identify.

Also, after the release, Merflok don't seem so weak anymore. I'd say in they've stolen the 2nd rank IMO cuz of +1/+1 and evasion. Now I'd say Vamps is the tribe that's 4th in my list.

So far I think dinos will be the best. They're just bigger which usually means better in limited. Pirates also look pretty good. They haven't really shown us too much of the Merfolk. And the vamps are ok I guess. Personally I draft to win.
