ERoss8 Deckling

Commander content with a bit of limited.

Color wise, I’m mainly golgari, but usually one of the two colors

Outside of Magic, I like rock music, making things, and baseball.

The Exsanguinate you already have can be fired off in a pinch. Along those lines, extort stuff like Crypt Ghast of Pontiff of Blight, or Gray Merchant of Asphodel/Kokusho, the Evening Star to gain a chunk of life (the in extort is in the reminder text, and therefore does not affect color identity)

Zuran Orb, as started above, is probably your best option though. Sacing lands and gaining life seems like exactly what you want

Personally, Manglehorn Urborg Elf Bane of the Living and Prowling Serpopard (unless counterspells are a huge force in your playgroup) could be cut. I'd add at least two more lands (probably 4 more), to reliably cast my spells, especially with Pernicious Deed and similar loops. Elephant Grass is similar to Mystic Remora, but it acts as a Ghostly Prison+. Also, Strip Mine (and similar effects) can be kinda mean, but it’s a good way to end games and deal with Gaea's Cradles and Cabal Coffers

Domri Rade grants it to creatures. I could see it, though it’d probably be something that you couldn’t just get in 3 or so turns like some current PWs

I only half followed the conversation (even that’s probably generous), but my 2 cents on the issue.

I don’t run any because I never run blue. However, I see this a decent amount in my playgroup, which I’d describe as not cEDH, but competitive enough that something like 10 minute combo-turns happen sometimes, control decks and combo are fairly prevalent, and is overall fairly battlecruser-y. Extra turn spells show up in the deck that takes a while to win (but usually wins if it takes that long), or in the control builds. They’re effects range anywhere from extra card, extra land drop, do whatever you were going to the turn before to extra card, extra land, untap my lands to respond to your stuff to copying it ten times and I should basically win.

I think the effect is fine, but it paints a huge target on your head usually. I wouldn’t use it without purpose, unless it’s basically Explore + Rude Awakening in blue. It’s worse than Seedborn Muse imo because someone can point a removal spell at the muse, but noone can retroactively deal with the extra turn (and the muse doesn’t otherwise advance your board).

As long as it doesn’t drag the game on to forever, I’m fine with it, but I don’t really consider them “must includes”

maxon: any card that discourages an opponent from playing a certain way. Examples (as I probably described that in a not-great way) include Dread and No Mercy to discourage attacking me, Aura of Silence and Seal of Cleansing to discourage artifacts and enchantments, and Portcullis and Grave Peril to discourage creatures

I’d say most removal, counterspell, and fog effects can be used politically, especially if they’re repeatable. Cracking Spore Frog in Meren of Clan Nel Toth to save an opponent could have them owe you a debt, or pointing a removal spell at the Mind Over Matter or other combo piece can curry favor with every at the table (except the guy trying to combo off). This probably wasn’t exactly what you were looking for, but I think it’s worth mentioning.

Seizan, Perverter of Truth is kind of an option in black, although some might not look as well upon it due to the life loss. Also, Font of Mythos

First day after the release of the latest commander precons, playing Lord Windgrace basically out of the box. Among the other players was another, very upgraded Windgrace deck. At one point, the other Windgrace deck cast a Torment of Hailfire for 8 or so. I cast Fury Storm to copy it twice, forcing him to undergo the torment process 16 times, and everyone else 24 times, while I’m able to survive. Naturally, Fury Storm was one of the first cards I cut, and my current list has its own Torment of Hailfire

No. Color identity includes all colors the card can be, like multicolored cards (Hostage Taker), double-face cards (like the aforementioned Elusive Tormentor  Flip), and off-color activated abilities (Harbor Bandit) all have the same color identity (in this case U/B). That said, talk to your playgroup and see if it’s ok with them
