Is it just me or has there been a considerable retraction in card prices. I use the tcg app to track the value of my collection and while I've noticed an increase in a few cards several of my decks plummeted $100+ over the course of just a few days.

GeminiSpartan I haven't played Standard since the Battleship days of Rise of the Eldrazi. I'm an EDH player these days. I hadn't thought about so many people dumping their stuff but that's probably what happened. Still a bit surprised by the speed of it though. I mean I've had decks spike that fast then gradually fall back down (those annoying buyouts) but never retract so quickly. Thank you for the for the plausible explanation.

I have seen my collection that I track fall by about 10k in a span of about 2 weeks. I agree that it may be the return to play causing the fall on some cards, but not on the reserve lists and P9 that I have.

Everything that is non-reseeved list tends to fall when there are reprints or strictly better cards printed. There is also supply and demand. There aren't a heck of a lot of events going on so anything standard is going to drop like a cement block into a lake - this is also a byproduct of arena. Commander staples like Rhystic Study always seem to maintain a price of $25 and rarely seeps below 15 but that's due to it's high demand and the fact that the sets its printed in our supplementary products. So, basically it's a great time to be a player and a crap time to be a collector; I'm fairly sure Wizards foresaw this which is why they're cranking out secret lairs so quickly.

People might be selling off old modern decks to try out the new shiny cards in MH2. Lots of LGS's are open again, and people have had time to clear out good rares and bulk that have been gathering dust in order to get other cards/things. There hasn't been much movement in legacy duals from what I can see, so if your collection is mostly modern/standard I could see that being the case. There's generally a spike in modern interest in the spring, which fades into the summer and fall for some reason. Don't know what else to say :)
