Well bust my Torpor Orbs and call me Chandra, the final round of the second ever Obscure Tribe Challenge is coming to pass! Thanks to epic procrastination, the stage is perfectly set for a Christmas season showdown between our 16 competing tribes! THE EPIC THIRD ROUND IS UPON US!

For those who haven't been keeping tabs on the results so far, I will now provide a list of how well each tribe is doing in the combat. A single point is awarded for each game win a tribe has, so even if you lose a match you can still come out of it with 1 point from a 1-2 loss; meanwhile, match winners scoop up a hefty 2 points! After two rounds, the points notched up so far look like this:

4 POINTS: Lammasu (biggestmtgnerd), Licids (erabel), Dauthi (nemesis101), Phoenixes (Rocknj06), Ooze (quesobueno123), Badgers (Nagaram)

3 POINTS: Basilisks (fayfeirings)

2 POINTS: Surrakar (Nayrash), Noggles (PresidentPeaches), Frogs (Infral)

1 POINT: Bears (nighthawk101), Assembly-Workers (BMpatrol), Chimeras (Boza), Homarids (Obake)

0 POINTS: Hounds (Kizmetto), Whales (AGunWithLegs)

Remember that at the end of the day, the combat points only determine roughly over a third of your score, as an additional 10 points can be won in the other two categories (Tribe Oscurity, and Deck Creativity) that will be judged by Yours Truly. However, being victorious in combat proves that YOUR TRIBE HAS WHAT IT TAKES TO CONQUER ALL IN THE ART OF WAR!!.

..ahem... And so, here are the final matchups, prepared for your viewing pleasure!

LEINA DIVISION: Can the fishy Surrakar knock the Lammasu off their feathery perch? And will the Hounds get given a bone against the deadly donkeys of doom? This division has more twists and turns than an Agatha Christie novel starring an unexpected Nyxathid..

Lammasu vs Surrakar

Noggles vs Hounds

HYRAX DIVISION: Can the parasitic Licids keep a brainwashing hold on the top of the division fighting against the ffickle Frogs? Or will the statue-loving Basilisks steal the lead away with a victory agains tthe monolithic Whales?

Licids vs Frogs

Basilisks vs Whales

BASSARA DIVISION: A head-to-head between the super-competitive Dauthi and Phoenixes; who will taker the top of the division? nd who will wrestle best for the bronze medal? The angry Assembly-Workers? Or the brutal Bears?

Dauthi vs Phoenixes

Assembly-Workers vs Bears

OPHIE DIVISION: Another two-tribe face-off, the ominous Oozes versus the badass Badgers (what a silly showdown). And that third place s going to be hotly contested between the homicidal Homarids and the calamitous Chimeras!

Badgers vs Ooze

Chimeras vs Homarids

MAY THE EPIC TRIBAL WARFARE SHAKE THE EARTH AND SUNDER THE SKIES OF THE PLANES OF THE GREAT MULTIVERSE!!

ROUND 3 LEINA DIVISION: Webbed hands, feathered wings, snarling teeth and ass-whuppin' hooves, let's get ready to rumble!!!

Lammasu vs Surrakar

The epic fish versus bird showdown weve been waiting for! Game One sa both sides phenomenally fail out of the gate, both sides barely seeing creatures until a Surrakar Marauder hit and took the fight to the boisterous birdsuntil Moat hit. With the fish men stopped by a small river (somehow) and the Lammasu being controlled off the board, there was no end in sight until Jace, The Mind Sculptor swagged on to the table, fatesealed the Lammasus cards and then promptly went ultimate, leaving the Lammasu four turns of lamentation before the Surrakar took the lead 1-0 with 18 life left, through the first ever Obscure Tribe Challenge deckout. Game Two was much shorter. The Surrakar put the control on straightaway, finding time to put a Surrakar Spellblade on the field while countering both Norns Annex and Moat to start swinging and drawing cards. The Lammasu had no answers, their spells countered and their creatures Doom Bladed to buggerance towards a Surrakar sweep of 2-0 with 14 life remaining.

Noggles vs Hounds

Will the donkeys put the ass in class, or the hounds put the dog in dogged determination? Game One saw the Hound sget good lands but barely any Hounds to play, allowing the Noggles to erect a counterwall to prevent them using Beast Within to animate their own lands. Eventually a Mongrel Pack hit, but it was too late as a Noggle Bandit snuck through for the last points of damage to put the Noggles 1-0 into the lead with 20 life remaining. Game Two saw the Hounds survive an early Noggle removal wall to get enough Hounds out and let a Jackal Pup with a Basilisk Collar wreck shop while Domri Rade supplied cards; despite Noggles flashing in ith the assistance of Leyline Of Anticipation, the Hounds pushed through with a pair of Immolating Souleaters to tie up the score 1-1 with 24 life remaining. Game Three saw the Hounds start well with Immolating Souleater and Ashmouth Hound but get well-blocked again by flashing donkeys, so a lone Jackal Pup remained It soon became a race to get the Pup and the attack back online before a Noggle Bandit killed off the dogs and in the last second the Hounds used Alpha Brawl to incite a donkey fight, leaving a lone Noggle Ransacker to fend off against a Mongrel Pack buffed by two Coat of Arms. The Hounds won 2-1 with a paltry 2 life remaining.

ROUND 3 HYRAX DIVISION.

Licids vs Frogs

Will the frogs hop to victory, or will the Licidserrdo their thing? Game One saw the Licids control the Frogs from the very outset, with multiple Soul Ransoms and Boomerangs giving hell to the land-starved toadies. With Sorin Markov dealing direct damage per turn, the Licids took the lead 1-0 with 25 life remaining. Game Two saw the Frogs do much better, putting down two Descendants Path and getting a steady stream of Frogsbut with the combo of Stinging Licid and two Icy Manipulators, the Licids were the ones dealing the damage while Soul Ransom helped to stem the damage, helping them grind out a 2-0 victory with 12 life left!

Basilisks vs Whales

Giant orcas crushing reptiles left and right, but soon becomes a giant killer whale statue! Game One saw both sides set up their attacking forces; the Basilisks assembled an indestructible Lure-enchanted Turntimber Basilisk, while the Whales set up the flying forces with the Killer Whale and Narwhal. Despite said Indestructible Mega-Basilisk killing off every Whale played afterwards, it couldnt outrace the singing pair of flying fishes and the Whales snuck into a 1-0 lead with 6 life left. Game Two saw the Basilisks get in early damage with Mutavault, but the Whales stabilized with Narwhal, Killer Whale and then the awesome combo of Great Whale copied with Fated Infatuation. Despite some expert deathtouch blocking, the Whales ran over the Basilisk defences to claim a 2-0 victory with 13 life!

ROUND 3: BASSARA DIVISION

Dauthi vs Phoenixes

Its the big one of the Bassara Division, bought to you by Shadow Nandos! Game One was an utter non-event as the Dauthi mulled to six and got stuck on a Cabal Coffers and a lonely Swamp, doing nothing until Chandras Phoenix and Flame-Wreathed Phoenix were well on the well to securing an easy 1-0 lead with 20 life left. Game Two saw the Dauthi front multiple attackers, but the fiery chickens incendiary removal kept them all off the board while Chandras Phoenix pecked away. Despite a valiant Dauthi Cutthroat equipped with enough swords to give him protection from four different colours, it was not enough for the Dauthi to avoid getting blasted by Red Suns Zenith, winning Phoenixes the match 2-0 with 7 life left.

Bears vs Assembly Workers

What bears do you prefer; natural, or robo-bears from Build-A-Bear Workshop? Game One saw the Assembly Workers attempt a devious plan of Prototype Portal-ling Adaptive Automatons, but the Bears outraced them with Alipne Grizzly smashing in with support from Druids Familiar; the bots from hell never got the Urzatron up in order to produce the mana needed to defend, giving the Bears a 1-0 lead with 20 life remaining! Game Two saw the Assembly Workers again hatch a plan with a double Door of Destinie, but they never saw an Assembly Workers for the cost reduction and buffs to pay off, relying on Assembly Worker tokens to fend off the Bears who activated Beastmaster Ascension to make grizzly 7/7 and 9/9 brutes, sealing the game with a thunderous furry claw and going 2-0 with 20 life left!

ROUND 3: OPHIS DIVISION: A titanic final double face-off! Will the brilliant Badgers best the outstanding Oozes for the top of Ophis Division? And will the cruel Chimeras beat the hideous Homarids?

Chimeras vs Homarids

Squidgy flying goat times! Game One saw both sides square off as a 6/6 double Tempered Steelenhanced Adaptive Automaton battled a swarm of Camarids, Viscerid Drones and a Deepwalker; struggling on three lands, the Automaton was quickly traded by the Deepwater as the rest of the squelching aquatic army squidged to a 1-0 lead for the Homarids with 16 life left. Game Two saw a clash between a sea of Viscerid Deepwalkers and a Chimera army, and thanks to some well-timed Divine Reckonings, the Chimeras finally operated as intended with a 9/9 Lead-Belly Chimera buffed with flying and first strike in order to power out a 1-1 tie with only 7 life remaining. Game Three unfortunately was a total cop-out, as the Chimeras saw more copies of Shared Field than lands and was helpless to stop the hungry Homarids from running over them and claiming the 2-1 victory with 20 life left.

Badgers vs Ooze

Our last game: Will it be the odious Oozes or the bothersome Badgers? Game One saw both decks fly out the gate, the Badgers buffing a Charging Badger while the Oozes flinging out an Experiment One and Scavenging Ooze early on. Despite applied pressure from a pair of Predator Oozes, the pressure from the Badgers combat trickery, especially Earthbrawn and Become Immense, was too much when coupled with Charging Badger and they pushed through to win 1-0 with 11 life left. Game Two was less close as Scavenging Ooze took over the game while Abrupt Decays took out a pair of Giant Badgers early on; despite some desperate deploying of defensive badgers, the plucky burrowers couldnt stave off the Ooze onslaught as they went 1-1 with 22 life remaining. Game Three was amazing as the Badgers raced to defend from a horde of Experiment Ones. While they managed to get buffs from both Obelisk of Urd and Door of Destinies, even a 6/6 Rysorian Badger could defend against the avalanches of slimes, from Manaplasm to Mitotic Slime slamming to a 2-1 win with 10 life remaining!

Obake says... #22

Forgot about this for almost a month, remembered just in time to see the Homarids squeeze out their first victory in the combat rounds. It sounds like it was mostly due to mana problems in Chimera land, but I'll take what I can get!

Nagaram says... #23

Well I'm not sure about the phrasing in the last battle after the tie between the badgers and ooze who one the last one? I'm assuming the badgers lost and it's supposed to say even a giant badger COULDN'T defend against the oozes but I'm really not sure.
