What counts as "under your control"?

Asked by Dabadoobop12 9 years ago

I was playing around with my Unleash the Abyss deck, and I came upon a combo I was curious about: Call to the Kindred + Xenograft . Would the cards in your deck count as "under your control"? If they do, you could theoretically play any creature from your deck no matter what the mana cost. Is this a viable tactic?

You can control spells on the stack and permanents on the battlefield. You cannot control anything else.

The cards in your library are cards that you own, but you do not yet control them until they are permanents or spells.

Also, Xenograft says "creatures you control". Cards are not actually creatures until they are on the battlefield. They are considered "creature cards" instead of "creatures".

And also, you do not control cards in your library.

Rules questions should be asked in the Q&A, which is linked in the header. I can't convert this thread to a Q&A question, so I'm moving it to BE.
