FNM 4 round event 3-1 —Nov. 10, 2017

Another awesome event. Feeling even more confident in this build. But might look into a little more sideboard differences to shore up the creature based deck weakness.

Round 1 Scapeshift 2-1

Game 1 Turn 2 Orb, into turn 3 and 4 Fraying. A single Glimpse put him down.

Game 2 He turn 0 Leyline of Sanctity's and Scapeshifts on turn 4. I didn't stand a chance.

Game 3 He doesn't have a Leyline to start, but I keep a hand with double Orb and Echoing Truth just in case. I mill mill mill, he tries the scapeshift, sacing all his lands not realizing I'd already milled 2 Valakuts and most of his mountains. I mill him out the next turn.

Match 2 Mono W Death and Taxes 2-1

Game 1 I end up pushing 1 Thalia and 1 Arbiter, he Paths a Crab, then I proceed to draw 3 Glimpses in a row to put him out.

Game 2 He Turn 1 Vials, turn 2 Thalia, turn 3 into vialed Arbiter and a blink bird. Followed by two more Birds.

Game 3 A lot of back and forth, but a Fraying Sticks. Also he swings for lethal and I Incursion to gain 33 life putting me WAY out of range.

Match 3 Devoted Elves 2-1 This is the same guy that beat me last week. Game 1 I push two early mana dorks and that puts him behind, Fraying sticks and double Crabs take it home.

Game 2 He combos on Turn 4 when I got greedy with a Fraying on turn 3.

Game 3 He gets shorted on lands and I kill his early mana dorks. Extraction pulls out the Archdruids and he can't recover.

Match 4 5 Color Humans 0-2

Game 1 He curves out strong and even though Push kills everything in his deck I end up dead on turn 5.

Game 2 I turn 2 Orb, he turn 3 Raiders killing Orb. I Funeral, and catch 14 cards, but then he drops 3 more humans powering up the Parish guy and I get run over.

Wrap up Loving this deck more and more. Finding the easy match ups and the ones I need to focus on. Scapeshift is pretty much an auto win, most creature heavy decks I have no problem with as Crypt Incursion nets me life hand over fist. Combo decks I can generally strip out of their graveyard, but if they have it in hand I might just be straight out of it.

i feel like the Crypt Incursion may be counter intuitive seeing as you would be taking things out of their graveyard and into exile unless you are going against a heavy graveyard interactive deck i don't feel it is quite needed in that slot.. potentially putting in an Elixir of Immortality or Psychic Spiral so you can get things back into your deck if you get into late game, another option which i feel would be a solid one is playing a 2 or 3 of Wight of Precinct Six because against creature heavy decks you would have more bodies on the field than just your hedron crabs.

Crypt Incursion has been too much of a life saver I think. Even in the decks like Storm or Burn that don't run a ton creatures, it's generally enough to put me out of range. In creature heavy decks like Elves or Merfolk, I tend to easily be in the 30-40 life range by the end of the game. I do like Psychic Spiral specially at instant speed and a good finisher, I will have to find a spot for it.
