I still don't …...
#2
I don’t like them because they don’t really fit my play style and I imagine this is true for most Johnnys. If you like building around the interactions between cards, planeswalkers are often either difficult to accommodate or there is another card with the effect you want and most of the other options on the planeswalker you are considering aren’t very helpful.
I don’t care if you play them, though. Also I don’t mean to generalize my opinion to others, this is just what I have observed.

The Reserved List …...
#4
I mean, I don’t know a single person who plays legacy or vintage (except friends who have a cube of proxies), but if “the majority” of those people want their game to remain inaccessible to new players, whatever. The format will die. IDGAF. Nobody cares that your collection of magic cards that you have because you were a nerd before it was cool MIGHT lose value. If you’re so worried about this happening, sell the cards. If you actually care about their price value, you’re not playing with them anyways.

Why is WotC …...
#5
Here’s a boring answer: they’re adding a new card type because marketing dudes always push for newer, flashier mechanics. It’s a statistically proven method of drawing more people to the game and therefore more profits. On an even more pessimistic note, they will probably keep doing this until the game eventually becomes oversaturated and people may move on to something else.
the optimist in me hopes that the new mechanic ends up being really fun and interesting. Personally, I’ve liked a lot of the new products Wotc has been launching, so I have high hopes.

Tutorless Commander?...
#6
I am probably on the extreme side of this argument in that I think it would be reasonable to ban all tutors (yes, including cultivate).
What would the game look like? Well, we would definitely see fewer 3+ color decks, landfall would be gone, combo strategies would be much less powerful, and various other strategies would vanish. It’s almost not worth speculating about, since wotc would never do this, but I think the meta could definitely settle into a healthy state. Games would move faster and be more fun with less shuffling. It could also go horribly awry and lead to a stale meta with only a few viable commanders and a ton of fringe picks.
If you ask me, I think the only tutors which actually hurt the creativity of EDH are the cheap ones like Demonic Tutor. I like the game how it is, with the exception of a few cards that I feel like most of us hate anyways. My playgroup doesn’t really use them anyways, but it definitely wouldn’t hurt the meta to ban a few cards.

#1Mortlocke you seem to think that the people commenting on your thread carry some burden to provide tangible proof that the majority of players dislike the RL.
It’s clear from the responses in this thread alone that you are more than likely in a small minority of players that believes otherwise. If you’re not convinced, maybe you should do your own experiment.
