I try to build good and silly magic decks.

I've been playing since 2012 and have played probably a dozen magic formats. I feel like I know what makes a card game and magic materially good and how to build a deck.

I also had my time as a Former competitive magic the gathering player as a college student 10 2019 - 3 2020 with a pro tour invite. However, I Burnt out after the pandemic and never recovered. Given my life outside cards and feelings towards WOTC, I don't I'll ever play competitive again.

If I seem reclusive about this game, it's mostly because of my hatred to Hasbro/ WoTC has been escalating since 2019 and every non commander format has shrunk since then.

In one regard, magic carried me through the darkest times as a teenager and helped me make amazing friends. In another regard, I don't think that could have happened today as Magic devolves into commander almost exclusively since 2020 while WOTC/Hasbro puts profits over the game. I kind of wish I never got into the game at all.

The good people I meet are the ones who still keep me in the game. And tappedout has one of the better online communities in magic.

I've never sweated so much at a deck that doesn't put you on a clock. +1

Have you considered running Emry instead of squelch? I just feel like Emery looping some baubles or reviving kappa will provide as much card draw.

Never thought all the comments from 2025 would just be spam.

Love the title. Hate the lock.

Any reason you don't run Tooth and Nail? A lot of tier 2 elf tron decks run it with the classic Xenagos + big creature/spaghetti monster for game.

I'm going to take a guess at your t2 win god hand:

  • (3 card, 2 mana) on turn 1 Scythcat cub + elvish spirit guide + colored land.

  • (2 cards, 1 mana) get another Hardened scale off elvish spirit guide.

  • (1 card, 2 mana) for more optimal plays, cast urdnan using t1 land and spirit guide. Put 1+1 counter on cub, making it a 2+2.

  • (1 card: fetchland) Use one fetchland for 2 scythcat cub triggers. Adding 2 +1/+1 counters on first, making it a 2+4.

  • go to combat. If using urdnan, crack fetchland to double cub to 2+8+1 = l7 double strike trample for game.

You just need 8 perfect cards. 1 cub, 1 hardened scales, 2 fetchlands, 3 spirit guides, and 1 urdann.
