Yuriok "manaburn" and end turn effect
Asked by Baumrinde 2 years ago
Hi there,
I was wondering about the following.
When you end your 1st main phase, everyone has mana in their mana pool and Yurlok of Scorch Thrash is on the field, then everyone looses their mana then what happens?
1st: Yurlok of Scorch Thrash ability does not use the stack so everyone looses 1 life for each mana that goes away (like old manaburn). I do not think this is the case.
2nd: One Yurlok of Scorch Thrash ability goes on stack with "all players lose 1 life for each mana they lost" so you could end the turn by using Sundial of the Infinite for example. But it removed the "burn" for everyone. I don't think this is it eather.
3rd: Four Yurlok of Scorch Thrash abilities go on stack for each player in priority order. So the own one would be the last to resolve and you could use Sundial of the Infinite to only remove your own one. I guess this is the one but not 100% sure.
4th: Like "3rd" option but stack order can be chosen freely. I hope this is the one because i like politics at the table.
Would be nice to get this one figured out. :)
Have a good one!

The loss of life does not use the stack and cannot be responded to.
Here is the relevant ruling from Yurlok of Scorch Thrash Gatherer page:
11/10/2020 Yurlok's middle ability is similar to the “mana burn” rule from years past. The loss of life happens at the same time the mana is lost. This loss of life doesn't use the stack and can't be responded to.
