Will activated abilities still resolve if the permanent that activated them is destroyed?

Say for example that I have a Quicksilver Amulet on the field and activate it to bring in some creature. if my opponent casts a Smash to Smithereens targeting my amulet in response would my creature still come in?

Yes. Once an ability is put on the stack, it is independent of its source. Destroying the Amulet won't counter the ability.

Yes. Once an ability or effect is placed on the stack, it exists independently of the card that created it. Your opponent can destroy the Amulet, but if the ability is already on the stack, it will still resolve.
