What type are Hazezon Tamar's tokens?

Asked by deadmanwalking 13 years ago

Do the token's he creates have the creature types "sand" and "warrior"? because "sand warrior" is no longer an official creature type. When he leaves play, does he exile all sands and all warriors? Can I use Bramblewood Paragon to power up his tokens? There doesn't seem to be any oracle text about this, so I'm not sure what to think. Assistance?

The tokens are "sand" and "warrior" tokens; however Hazezon Tamar only removes toeksn with "sand" and "warrior" creature types, which means "warrior" creatures and "sand" creatures are unaffected.

Bramblewood Paragon will give your tokens a passive +1/+1 buff since the tokens created by Hazezon Tamar are "sand" and "warrior" tokens.

Hazezon Tamar 's ability creates tokens with the creature types "Sand" and "Warrior."

The Oracle ruling on his second ability.

10/1/2009: When Hazezon Tamar's second ability resolves, all permanents with both the Sand and Warrior creature types are exiled, not just the Sand Warrior creature tokens it created. Permanents that have just one of those types are unaffected.

Since the tokens have the Warrior creature type, Bramblewood Paragon 's buff effect will apply to them. Note that if Hazezon leaves the battlefield, your Paragon will stay because it does not have the Sand creature type.

Hazezon Tamar is one of my favorite edh generals. His tokens have both the sand and warrior subtype (comp rules 302.3), and each token is named 'sand warrior'. When his leaves the battlefield effect resolves, all creatures with both subtype 'sand' AND subtype 'warrior' are exiled. elf warriors are not exiled; sand wurms are not exiled. If you have a creature that has subtypes 'sand warrior goblin,' somehow, that creature will be exiled.

Paragon really doesn't give a static buff. He won't buff the tokens if he comes into play after them.

Thanks everyone. I'm using him as an EDH commander, too landot, because my meta consists almost entirely of board wipes :P

cool. so you know that if you cast Hazezon Tamar and then bounce him or he is killed before the beginning of your next turn, his enter-the-battlefield ability still resolves?

Ya, I know. That's one of the things I like most about him, he actually can pull a lot of dirty tricks, like casting multiple times and Shields of Velis Vel on exit.
