What is the monstrous cost with Oppressive Rays on Polukranos, World Eater?

Does Polukranos, World Eater monstrous ability cost 3 extra or would it be x+3? So if I was to monstrous Polukranos, World Eater for 4, would the cost be 44G+3, or 77G?

Your first assumption is correct. Oppressive Rays will add to the cost of Polukranos' monstrous ability, not X.

It's a common misconception about X that you somehow pay first, and then X is determined by how much you paid. Instead, you -start- by declaring a value for X and calculating the cost that way.

Which makes it a lot easier to understand the answer here, when you consider that the cost of XXG, by the time anything would add Oppressive Rays or subtract Training Grounds from the cost, there aren't Xs anymore.

X=4, Cost is 44G, or 8G. Then Oppressive Rays increases the cost to 11G.
