What happens to equipment when a permanent stops being a creature?

Example Blinkmoth Nexus equipped with Cranial Plating. Does it just unequip?

301.5. Some artifacts have the subtype "Equipment." An Equipment can be attached to a creature. It can't legally be attached to an object that isn't a creature.

301.5c An Equipment that's also a creature can't equip a creature. An Equipment that loses the subtype "Equipment" can't equip a creature. An Equipment can't equip itself. An Equipment that equips an illegal or nonexistent permanent becomes unattached from that permanent but remains on the battlefield. (This is a state-based action. See rule 704.) An Equipment can't equip more than one creature. If a spell or ability would cause an Equipment to equip more than one creature, the Equipment's controller chooses which creature it equips.

It unattaches and remains on the battlefield.

So...can it not equip Blinkmoth Nexus even after making it a creature? Or it can it just unequips once it stops being a creature?

Yes you can still equip stuff to it once you animate it, as it is a creature. It's also an artifact and a land, but that doesn't matter as long as it's a creature.

At the end of your turn, it will become an illegal object for the equipment to be attached to and unequip.

@Sidewayzangel

As long as the card meets the requirements, it does not matter what other types it has, assuming there isn't a non-x part of the ability/spell.

For example, an animated Blinkmoth Nexus is a creature AND a land. Therefore, it can be equipped. However, at the EOT, it reverts back to a Land. Therefore, it cannot be equipped.

However, "non-x" specifications can change things. For example, Maelstrom Pulse cannot hit an animated Blinkmoth Nexus as it is a land. Even though it is a creature, the "non-x" prevents it.

Is it the same with enchantments?

Kind of. An Aura that is attached to an illegal object is put into its owner's graveyard, but an equipment that is attached to an illegal object merely becomes unattached and remains on the battlefield.
