two parallel lives equal double or quadruple tokens
Asked by morphranos 13 years ago
I am going to be building a token deck soon just wondering if multiple parallel lives effects stack or if it's doubled no matter how many there are on the field. Check my deck out I could help slimming it down, and fine tuning. http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/gw-token-57/
You double the double, so with two Lives out, you get 4x tokens.

So you have 4 Parallel Lives and 4 Doubling Season s out. You then play Chatter of the Squirrel . You get 1 token from the effect, then the 8 enchantments activate because you are getting a token.
Resolve 1: 1 squirrel becomes 2.
Resolve 2: 2 squirrels become 4.
Resolve 3: 4 squirrels become 8.
Resolve 4: 8 squirrels become 16.
Resolve 5: 16 squirrels become 32.
Resolve 6: 32 squirrels become 64.
Resolve 7: 64 squirrels become 128.
Resolve 8: 128 squirrels become 256.
So for one green mana (and 8 enchantments) you get 256 1/1 green Squirrel creature tokens.
Now you play a Mycoloth , devouring the 256 Squirrel tokens and gets 512 +1/+1 counters from the devour effect, and then the 4 Doubling Season s will trigger.
Resolve 1: 512 +1/+1 counters become 1024.
Resolve 2: 1024 +1/+1 counters become 2048.
Resolve 3: 2048 +1/+1 counters become 4096.
Resolve 4: 4096 +1/+1 counters become 8192.
So for 6 mana (not including enchantments) you get an 8196 / 8196. Plus at the beginning of your upkeep that will spawn 8192 1/1 green Saproling creature tokens for you (then the 8 enchantments activate, resulting in getting 2,097,152 1/1 green Saproling creature tokens during each of your upkeeps. Good luck keeping track of all that if your opponent doesn't scoop or finds a way to prevent that from happening every turn.

If you're mathematically inclined or good with numbers off the top of your head...
For one token, here's a formula:
2x, where "x" is the number of token-doubling effects you have. ("" is "to the power of").
So if you have 3 Parallel Lives out and would get one token, that's 23, so 8.

Also, apparently the caret symbol (the upside-down 'v' that signifies 'to the power of') is not showing up in comments here. strange.

Please try not to ask the same question twice, that does not increase the likelihood of it being answered.
