Triggered abilities and blocking

I'm a new mtg player and still don't get along with the rules very well. I had Dissipation Field on the battledield and attacked my opponent with a flying creature.
As I declared attackers, my opponent cast Cloudthresher.
My question is: would Cloudthresher be able to block one of my flying creatures before he gets sent back to my opponent's hand? If so, no combat damage would be dealt, correct?
My guess is that he gets sent back immediately, because I think triggered abilities need to be dealt with before blockers are announced.

Neotrup, would you mind explaining how the "evoke abuse" would work? I know there's an order in which triggered abilities resolve, and that it's chosen by the active player (I think). Why would my opponent choose the order of the triggered abilities in that case?

They evoke the creature and trigger the sacrifice clause and the damage ability. They put damage on top over the sacrifice, and when that resolves it triggers Dissipation Field causing the Cloudthresher to bounce before the evoke trigger cab resolve. They choose the order of both those triggers because they control them, even though one will cause one you control to trigger.

It gets sent back immediately. You opponent could abuse your trigger to evoke without sacrificing though.
