Thornbite Staff vs Hexproof

Is Thornbite Staff able to deal damage to a creature with hexproof such as Witchstalker seeing as the damage is inflicted by a creature?
Thank you, just wanted a bit more clarification on it since it said the creature was dealing the damage.

Glaring Spotlight is the answer to ask your concerns, run a set in the sideboard for dealing with hexproof if you know you're going to see it

no, because hexproof protects from abilities as well, which is what Thornbite Staff is granting. the creature would be dealing damage via the ability gained from the Thornbite Staff, and a creature with hexproof cannot be targeted by abilities an opponent controls.
