The swords ability triggers question

Asked by Syinide 13 years ago

Say i have a single Invisible StalkerMTG Card: Invisible Stalker equipped with both Sword of War and PeaceMTG Card: Sword of War and Peace and Sword of Feast and FamineMTG Card: Sword of Feast and Famine. He attacks, both swords trigger, do i get to choose which sword triggers first?

You don't choose the order in which they "trigger." They trigger at the same time. You do, however, choose in which order they go on the stack, and ultimately in which order they resolve (just a terminology issue).

You just about always want to put the trigger of Sword of War and PeaceMTG Card: Sword of War and Peace on top of the trigger of Sword of Feast and FamineMTG Card: Sword of Feast and Famine, so that it resolves first and you get one more point of damage before they discard.

Yes. Whenever a player controls multiple abilities that all triggered since the last time state-based actions were checked, he or she puts them onto the stack in any order he or she chooses.

In this case, the wise thing to do would be to put the Sword of Feast and FamineMTG Card: Sword of Feast and Famine trigger on first, then the Sword of War and PeaceMTG Card: Sword of War and Peace. That way, W&P will deal the extra damage for the card that your opponent would discard.

You get to put them on the stack since the stack resolves back wards wichever effect you put on the stack last will resolve first so in you want war and peace to resolve first you would put feast and famine on the stack first therefore in theory you get to chose in what order they resolve
