Temur Battle Rage Question
Asked by magnetcrocodile 10 years ago
Field:
I got a lone Gore Swine on the field. The opponent only got a single Elvish Mystic on the field.
I cast Temur Battle Rage on my Gore Swine, triggering the Ferocious ability and giving it Double Strike and Trample.
Then I proceed to attack, which he block with his Elvish Mystic
What Happens?
a. Do my Gore Swine hit the Elvish Mystic and dealing 3 Trample damage to my opponent, then proceed to hit for 4, dealing a total of 7 damage, since he have Double Strike?
b. Or my Gore Swine hit the Elvish Mystic and dealing 3 Trample damage, then proceed to hit nothing, dealing a total of only 3 damage?

Note also that ferocious isn't triggered. Temur Battle Rage has a second effect that is applied if ferocious is true, but that doesn't make it triggered.

Oh also one more question
Example: If I somehow get my Monastery Swiftspear to 3 power, and I cast Temur Battle Rage on it. Will Prowess trigger 1st? thus allowing access to Ferocious? Or it won't?

Yep. Prowess triggers when the spell is cast, so it will go on the stack on top of Temur Battle Rage. It will resolve, and then during the resolution of Temur Battle Rage it checks to see if there is a creature with power 4 or greater; it sees a 4/5 Monastery Swiftspear and the Ferocious effect is applied.

It's (a). A blocked creature with trample can assign its damage to the defending player if it's already assigned lethal damage to all the creatures blocking it. If there are no creatures blocking it, it must assign all its damage to the defending player.
