Stacking Triggers:
Asked by Pheonix11235 10 years ago
Can I stack the triggers like this? (Akroan Crusader and Jeskai Ascendancy on board.)
1) Cast a spell that targets Akroan Crusader
2) Stack triggers: (Creature) -> (+1/+1 and untap) -> (first casted spell's effect)
3) Cast a second spell in response to the (+1/+1 and untap) going on the stack to have:
4) (Creature) -> (Creature)-> (+1/+1 and untap) -> (second casted spell's effect) -> (+1/+1 and untap) -> (first casted spell's effect)
5) repeat steps 3 and 4 to get to 6
6)(Creature) -> (Creature) -> (Creature) -> -> (+1/+1 and untap) ->(third casted spell's effect) -> -> (+1/+1 and untap) -> (second casted spell's effect) -> (+1/+1 and untap) -> (first casted spell's effect)

You put all triggered abilities onto the stack before you get priority. You can't respond to one triggered ability before the other is put onto the stack.
Each time you cast a noncreature spell that targets Akroan Crusader , you will get one trigger from Akroan Crusader 's heroic ability and one trigger from Jeskai Ascendancy 's first ability. You may put them onto the stack in any order you choose, but you won't be able to do anything else until both abilities are on the stack. At that time, if you cast another such spell, you will get one more of each trigger, and you would again choose the order in which they go onto the stack.
What you could not do is intermingle the second set of triggers with the first. In order to do that, you would need to cast multiple such spells through the resolution of another spell or ability (such as Epic Experiment ) so as to cast all spells before handling triggered abilities.

I'll presume Creature to mean the heroic trigger on Akroan Crusader .
All the triggers go on the stack simultaneously in the order you want them to. Step 2 works, but step 4 does not. The creature's heroic trigger would have to resolve before you could cast something directly responding to the trigger from Jeskai Ascendancy , because it is below the heroic trigger on the stack. Similarly, you would have to wait until the creature's heroic trigger resolved to respond directly to Jeskai Ascendancy in step 6.
Basically, you can't respond to the act of something going on the stack, as all triggered abilities from an action are put there simultaneously.
