Scour From Existence +Djinn Illuminatus

Asked by DarthSmitty 8 years ago

If Someone has Mizzix of the Izmagnus and has a bunch of experience counters, and I have Djinn Illuminatus out. If I cast Scour from Existence, can it be replicated as many times as I want?

There is a definite upper limit to the amount of experience counters you can get with Mizzix of the Izmagnus and therefore how many times you can replicate Scour from Existence. Replicate represents an additional casting cost tied to a triggered ability that makes copies. You are just making a single spell aditionally expensive when you replicate. You can use Mizzix's ability to reduce the mana needed to pay into additional costs. You can replicate it any number of times but that you have the combination of experience and mana to pay for, but it is a single spell so the reduction applies only once.

Wait so in order to replicate it 3 times, I need 28 experience counters

I am going to assume that you control Mizzix with at least 7 counters on it, or your question would not make sense.

11/4/2015 Mizzixs last ability doesnt change the mana cost or converted mana cost of any spell. It changes only the total cost you pay.

You cannot cast it as many times as you want. Mizzix does not change converted mana cost of a card, just the amount you use to cast it. So you will cast it for free, but the replicate cost will still be 7 mana. So you basically get one free casting of scour, and the replicate would cost 7 more for each additional copy you want to cast.

A card's "mana cost" is specifically the symbols printed in the upper right corner. The replicate cost given to Scour from Existence by Djinn Illuminatus is , because that's its mana cost.

Mizzix of the Izmagnus doesn't do anything with a card's mana cost. Rather, it reduces the total amount of mana you need to spend to cast it. Let's say you control Mizzix (the ability only helps its controller) and have 9 experience counters. You also control a Djinn and want to cast Scour, replicating it twice. The total cost to do this would be + + - =
