Runed Halo and emblems

Asked by Pilz_753 7 years ago

If I have Runed Halo in play and named Chandra, Torch of Defiance and my opponent ultimates his Chandra am I a legal target for the trigger of the emblem?

Yes. The emblem is not Chandra. It's also not a card, so you can't name it with Runed Halo.

The emblem would have to have a name (which no emblems as of yet do), and the name would have to be the same as a card that is legal in the format you are playing. On that note, there's an interesting interaction between Runed Halo and tokens, because tokens usually are simply named by their subtype. In modern, Runed Halo cannot name illusion, and thus would not be able to protect you from illusion tokens, but in Legacy Runed Halo can name Illusion and would also protect you from illusion tokens (unless the token had a different name).

Runed halo can't target tokens, or face down creatures, so it couldn't target emblems
