Redirect VS Redirect/Reverberate

Asked by Bargadiel 12 years ago

Ok, let's say an opponent casts Lightning Bolt or something, then I respond with a Redirect and then he responds with a Redirect . How could he save himself?

What if his last spell was a Reverberate instead?

Can a Redirect be used against another Redirect to cancel both out?

well, if you cast a Redirect redirecting the other Redirect to your Redirect , it will resolve unless they do something to it, and the other redirect will have no effect because it already resolved. However, what I would do is just to redirect the lightning bolt back to it's original target.

In layman's terms, yes, you can.

Your answer is a little confusing.

Let's say your opponent controls the Lightning Bolt , you control Redirect 1, and your opponent controls Redirect 2. When Redirect 2 begins to resolve, your opponent can change the target of Redirect 1 to Redirect 2 (since a spell is still on the stack while it is resolving, this is a legal choice of targets for Redirect 1).

Then, when Redirect 1 attempts to copy Redirect 2, it will fizzle because Redirect 2 is no longer a legal target (it was moved off of the stack and put into its owner's graveyard as the last step of its resolution process. Thus, Redirect 1 will have no effect and the Lightning Bolt will hit its original target.

If your opponent responds with a Reverberate , all he or she has to do is copy the Redirect , have it target Redirect 1, and then the same process happens.
