Reaper King and Xenograft

Asked by deviantelement 13 years ago

i wanted to make an edh deck with Reaper King . but i dont have anywhere near enough scarecrows to make it any fun. using Xenograft would my non scarecrows enter the battlefield as scarecrows thus triggering Reaper King's second ability? or would they enter the battlefield and then become the scarecrow creature type in addition to its other types?

I'm pretty sure that your creatures ETB as scarecrows in addition to their other types, thus triggering your commander's ability. Alternately I would suggest using Conspiracy for the same affect, only a bit faster.

Hope this helps!

This would be correct.

_poke_me is correct in his statement, but just to add to it... Because Xenograft enables what us old timers call Static Ability, any creatures that come into play will automatically gain the creature type you name upon entering the battlefield (which I'm assuming your calling Scarecrow? :) ), so this ability will trigger just fine for any token or creature card entering the battlefield as they will enter as XXX Scarecrow, and will trigger the ability of the Reaper King .

You could also use shapeshifters for that deck...
