Progenitor Mimic Ruling Confusion
Asked by RaiJinnski 10 years ago
Sorry for my Grammar
Does Progenitor Mimic that copied Kalonian Hydra will put out tokens every upkeep?
so...Turn 1: (Original Kalonian, and progenitor mimic thats a copy of kalonian
Turn 2: (original Kalonian and progenitor mimic thats a copy of kalonian, and the token thats also a copy)
turn 3 (original Kalonian and progenitor mimic thats a copy of kalonians and 2 TOKENS?
and so on as long as i control Progenitor Mimic?
What happens if i also put another Progenitor Mimic? Can i Choose to copy a different thing, say Elvish Mystic if its on the field?
I read a ruling that the 2nd Progenitor Mimic has to enter as a copy of the 1st one, so in short another Kalonian Hydra
Thanks for responding

Progenitor Mimic will put out a copy of the creature it is copying every upkeep. Those are copies of that creature with the additional text "At the beginning of your upkeep, if this creature isn't a token, put a token onto the battlefield that's a copy of this creature." On turn 3 of your scenario you would have Kalonian Hydra, Progenitor Mimic copying Kalonian Hydra, and two tokens that are copies of Kalonian Hydra with the additional text.
There is no rule that Progenitor Mimic must enter the battlefield as a copy of another Progenitor Mimic, but using a Progenitor Mimic to copy another Progenitor Mimic or its tokens is special because it adds another instance of the additional text, thus producing additional copies.
