Planeswalker Block

Can Planeswalkers Block? I ran into a case where I had a Hellrider and a Chandra, the Firebrand on the battlefield and my opponent had a Mentor of the Meek and a Champion of the Parish , I had 1 life and they were swinging for game... Can my Chandra, the Firebrand block one of these creatures? Or do I lose the game?

Planeswalkers cannot block for you reactively like that. When your opponent attacks, they declare which "player" they are attacking towards. If they choose to attack you, rather than your planeswalker, that creature is attacking you and Chandra, the Firebrand cannot be called to take the hit for she is not the target for the attack.

Rules clarification, anyone?

Only creatures can block during combat. The attacking creatures would only deal damage to your Chandra if your opponent declared them as attacking her.
