Phyrexian Obliterator

My opponent uses Go for the Throat against my Phyrexian Obliterator . Does he discard 5 permanents?

No, Go for the throat doesn't do any damage to the Phyrexian obliterator, it merely destroys it. Doing damage and destroying are two separate things. If he had used Fireball to destroy it then yes he would have to sac 5 permanents.
