Own vs Control, what's the difference?
Asked by ExpectDragons 10 years ago
Ok so i have Venser, the Sojourner in play and i just swapped control of Perplexing Chimera for an opponent's spell, can i then target the chimera with his +2 ability since i 'own' the card rather than control it? For instance with Roon of the Hidden Realm if i blinked it with him it would come back under my control, although what i can target is more clearly stated.

Yes, it works like you think it does. Basically, the player who owns the card is the one in whose deck the card started at the beginning of the game. Ownership of a card can't be changed in the middle of a game. On the contrary, control of a card can be changed using various effects and you can control a card you don't own. Your play with Venser, the Sojourner and Perplexing Chimera works fine.
