Asked by essbie 13 years ago

My Iron Myr with an Argentum Armor was blocked by a card:Pilgrim's Eye. Do i gain 7 life or just 1 since the creature can just receive 1 damage and dies? plus my myr does not have trample..

You would gain 7 life.

Your Iron Myr has dealt 7 damage to the helpless Pilgrim's Eye, therefore destroying him into the abyss. Overkill!

Regardless of a creature's toughness, the damage you deal is still equal to your creature's strength.

Hope I helped you out :D

Scotty4u is right. Creatures don't pull their punches in combat, they assign as much damage as they have power.

you iron myr did 7 damage to the pilgrim not 1 all damage that is not prevented by spells and abilitys is delt to creatures and or players (if the creature had trample)damage prevention is the only reason why lifelink wouldnt give you life eaquel to its power

Whenever a creature attacks, unless it is prevented from dealing combat damage, lifelink gives you life equal to it's power, regardless of whether you were blocked or not.
