Orim's Chant question

Asked by Gambit 13 years ago

If opponent casts Firebolt , then I respond with card:Orim's Chant, would that save me 2 life? Or would card:Orim's Chant be more like a sorcery?

No. card:Orim's Chant can't prevent spells already on the stack from resolving, it only prevents opponents from casting spells. Casting is putting a spell on the stack, not letting a spell resolve from the stack.

BrightGreenLine is right. A spell or ability can't go back in time and change things that happened before it took effect. Your opponent already cast Firebolt , so now it's too late for card:Orim's Chant to prevent him from doing it.

You would need to play something like Sundial of the Infinite to remove a spell from the stack.

So basically I would have to cast card:Orim's Chant during my opponent's draw phase.

Yes, that works. Your earliest opportunity to cast the Chant is during his Upkeep step.
