Omniscience with buyback
Asked by crunchbite_1 12 years ago
This just came up in a Commander game I was just a part of. How would a "buyback" cost such as the one on a Capsize interact with Omniscience on the table?Any clarification would be greatly appreciated.thanks

Buyback is an optional additional cost. When casting Capsize with Omniscience , you don't need to pay 1UU to cast it. Buyback, however, is not affected by Omniscience and you need to pay it if you want to use it.

That is what we thought and also how we played it. Thank you very much

Just remember that if you cast X spells with Omniscience then X is 0 or you have to pay the whole mana cost.

The "mana cost" part of a spell is just the symbols printed in the upper right corner, and that's the only part Omniscience will give you for free. Any additional costs, whether optional or mandatory (like the buyback on Capsize or sacrificing a creature for Altar's Reap ), still have to be paid.
