ninjutsu with 0 toughness
Asked by Battlemaster501 2 years ago
I swing with a 4/4 creature, my opponent doesn't block. I cast Prizefight targeting the unblocked creature and a 4/4 creature my opponent controls. can I ninjutsu my unblocked creature before it goes to the graveyard?
Slight correction: If you Ninjitsu in response to Prizefight before it resolves, it will still create a treasure token on resolution, as it still has a legal target (your opponent's creature), but no damage will be dealt.
701.12b If one or both creatures instructed to fight are no longer on the battlefield or are no longer creatures, neither of them fights or deals damage. If one or both creatures are illegal targets for a resolving spell or ability that instructs them to fight, neither of them fights or deals damage.

You will not be able to both kill the opponents creature and save your own.
If you ninjitsu before the Prizefight resolves, your creature that you were targeting will no longer be a valid target and the spell will do nothing on resolution.
If the Prizefight resolves, both your creature and the opponent's will have damage equal to their toughness on them. Before anyone can do anything (like ninjitsu out a creature), state based actions will check, see that 2 creatures (opponent's and your unblocked one) have lethal damage, and destroy them. Then players will get priority to do stuff.
