Need rulling Restoration AngelThragtusk + 2 Parallel Lives than copy crackling counterpart targeting angel (which targets thragtusk)
Asked by btmankin 12 years ago
so 4 restoration angels hit the board would it than flash Thragtusk 4 times or would it kill it like flashing Restoration Angel plus cloud shift does. Is it in the wording of that exiling combo where you have to do it in response to exile? rulings would be helpful
so it's your choice. need ruling cause they would all enter battlefield at once does one get to say flash and it goes on stack let it resolve second angel then says flash and so on?

Wait, Nevermind. Resto angel will be cast targeting thragtusk. It will resolve and thragtusk is blinked. Then Cackling Counterpart comes in for one token and 2 parallel lives double it for 4 tokens. If you target thragtusk with all four, thragtusk will be blinked once because all four of the resto angels' abilities are put on stack. First one will resolve exiling thragtusk. Second one will come in but because the target is different from the new thragtusk, it fizzles. Same with the last two.
I believe it is like this

if your right w999 will give you credit but need ruling since this is my FNM I play with at shop

They all come in at once but the abilities are put on stack so they resolve one at a time. When the abilities are out on stack, you target thragtusk with all 4. First angel comes in and blinks thragtusk. Second one comes in trying to blink but the thragtusk is a "new/different" thragtusk. So it fizzles.

Here, I'll call Epochalyptik and Rhadamanthus to clear it up.

w999 is right if you summon all of them at the same time only the first one will work, the rest will just fizzle. However if you just summon them one by one, you don't have a problem

but wouldn't that ability put the flash ability on the stack and as being the last one played it resolves first so thrag would hit the board than next angels ability is next on the stack and so on?

if you could ask them it would be awesome and CallMeCrazy can I summon them on at a time with Parallel Lives or is it not possible. cause i'm looking for the ruling if there is one

I guess I was a bit vague on that. Yes, whichever one is put on stack last resolves first

Parallel lives is a replacement effect so all the angels must come in at the same time.

Alright, so Restoration Angel enters the battlefield. Its triggered ability is triggered and it is put onto the stack targeting Thragtusk . You then cast Cackling Counterpart targeting Restoration Angel . We will assume you do this before Restoration Angel 's ability resolves. Cackling Counterpart will resolve and give you four token copies of Restoration Angel (because the effects of Parallel Lives ' replacement effects stack exponentially). The token copies have their own triggered abilities that trigger individually. They don't necessarily target Thragtusk , but you can choose for them to if you like.
We will assume that you opt for all token copies of Restoration Angel to target Thragtusk with their abilities. In that case, the last ability to be put onto the stack will resolve first, blinking Thragtusk . Then, all other Restoration Angel s' abilities will fizzle because the Thragtusk they were targeting no longer exists; it left the battlefield and is treated as a new permanent when it returned.

If any of my assumptions are incorrect, let me know and I will modify the answer if appropriate.

does it matter if I had the resto a turn before I cast crackling before so it's already resolved? don't think so. sorry epoch but I told w999 I would credit his answer if he was correct

When a permanent leaves the battlefield and reenters, it reenters as a new permanent. Anything that was targeting the Thragtusk before it left the battlefield will not be targeting the Thragtusk that reenters. These abilities will fizzle.
Also, answers should be chosen based on whose was most complete and accurate, not a promise system.

Yea, I don't want credit if its like this. His is more technical clear and concise.

I wouldn't get a player of the month anyways considering that I don't contribute much to the site. :P

Depends. If you cast all 4 Restoration Angel s on stack, then it would be exiled. If you cast them one by one, it doesn't get exiled
