Myr Superion and Mycosynth Golem

Asked by SlimeHudson 13 years ago

If I have Mycosynth Golem out, and another artifact on the field, can I cast Myr Superion for no cost whatsoever, or is he impossible to cast because he isn't being cast using mana from a creature?

Sorry if this is kinda obvious, I'm simply not sure.

Mycosynth GolemMTG Card: Mycosynth Golem, Myr SuperionMTG Card: Myr Superion

Yes, if you have the Golem out, and another artifact, the cost to cast Myr SuperionMTG Card: Myr Superion would become zero. Same idea as if you had out a Heartless SummoningMTG Card: Heartless Summoning, also making the Superion zero to cast.

If the modification reduces the cost to 0, it can be cast without needing a mana payment. Since you didn't technically need mana at all, it's restriction doesn't apply. It can also be used with Heartless SummoningMTG Card: Heartless Summoning in the same manner.

For more clarification. You can only SPEND mana produced by creatures to cast Myr SuperionMTG Card: Myr Superion. If he doesn't cost any mana to cast, then you aren't breaking rules, because you don't have to spend any mana at all.

You can cast it for free. Since it's cost is reduced to 0, the restriction on what kind of mana you can spend is irrelevant. Myr SuperionMTG Card: Myr Superion's ability defines what "kinds" of mana you can't spend (non-creature produced), it doesn't require you to spend a certain "kind".
