Lord of Shatterskull Pass + Basilisk Collar
Asked by Obahai 14 years ago
Player A has a fully leveled up Lord of Shatterskull Pass and equips it with a Basilisk Collar, then attacks Player B with 12 1/1 goblins.
How much life is gained from this process?
A fully leveled Lord of Shatterskull Pass with Basilisk Collar will cause a gain of 6 x 12 for a total of 72 life.

Kalani it doesnt matter if it gets removed before combat damage because the cards states "when it attacks," so damage goes through once Lord of Shatterskull Pass is declared as an attacker.
Also my calculations are slightly incorrect as if the Lord's attack goes through you actually gain a total of 78 life.

Lord of Shatterskull Pass 's ability is kinda like Annihilator in some sense in that it triggers before declare blockers.
So in this situation since it wasn't removed prior to declare attackers this sequence of events will occur:
- The Lord is declared as an attacker.
- Its ability is put onto the stack. Once this is done it is too late to stop the ability without something like Stifle , because the ability exists separate from the creature. So even if it was removed from the battle field the ability will still resolve.
- Priority passes, etc., ability resolves.
- Ability deals 6 damage to 12 goblins and because the Lord has lifelink player A gains 72 life.
- If the Lord is not removed before damage step it will deal an additional 6 damage to player B.

Thanks, this helps and hurts me a whole lot. The group I play with has an agreement that if you exceed the 50 life point limit in a single turn, you win

deadmanwalking says... #6
You might wanna reconsider that agreement Celestial Mantle
Kalani says... #1
Lord of Shatterskull Pass
Basilisk Collar
Well if he doesn't get hit by removal before combat damage step, you will gain life equal to 6x #of creatures opponent controls, plus the 6 when he deals combat damage.
Just make sure you've got your Felidar Sovereign handy!
