Legion's Initiative: What can it exactly do?
Asked by Osang 11 years ago
I know the whole blink thing can save your peeps from wrath and stuff, and it also buffs them a bit if they're on color..
But, what if Legion's Initiative is combo'd with Purphoros, God of the Forge / Fanatic of Mogis ? Does it work?
Example Setup:
- I have Purphoros, God of the Forge , Boros Reckoner , Fanatic of Mogis , and Legion's Initiative on the field, and enough land to activate the Initiative.
The two scenarios:
1) I attack with them on my turn, then after it resolves, I blink them out. When they come back in, do they come back in untapped and ready to defend?
2) I blink them out at the end of an opponent's wrath, they come back on my turn's combat, ready to attack. Do their re-entry activate both Purphoros, God of the Forge and Fanatic of Mogis 's triggered abilities, dealing 9 total burn damage (4 from Purphoros and 5 from Fanatic) before attacks are declared?
Wording on the second question is a bit off: It should say before the wrath, to save them from it.

1) The default state of a permanent entering the battlefield is untapped. Because Legion's Initiative doesn't say anything about modifying the way permanents enter the battlefield, it doesn't. The creatures are untapped.
2) "Enters the battlefield" abilities trigger from the battlefield, and objects that enter the battlefield at the same time will see each other and trigger from each other. Purphoros, God of the Forge will trigger for every other creature and Fanatic of Mogis will count all the R symbols in their costs.

I'm really grateful of both of your help, cakrause86 and Rhadamanthus! Sadly I can only choose one accepted answer (I'd accept both), but thanks for the clarification from the both of you.

Note that activated abilities are activated, and triggered abilities are triggered. You don't activate a triggered ability.

Question: would purphorus' ability trigger as he comes on the field at the same time as the others? Since he is a creature @ the time due to devotion being met, he would have blinked out as well, correct?

@KingRio: You should ask a new question instead of posting in a dead thread. The only reason I knew you posted was that I'm still subscribed to this page.
Your question was answered in the original discussion 5 months ago. Please reread post #3.

The answer to both is yes. They all count as re entering the battlefield.
