Kalamax and narset

Asked by proterran98 1 year ago

I am so confused. My opponent cast Beast Within targeting something of mine. I have a tapped Kalamax, the Stormsire, have yet to cast an instant and a Narset's Reversal. I cast the narset. What happens? How does that play out (keep in mind I want to make the best play for me).

Thank you.

You get two instances of Narset's Reversal. The copy will be put in the stack on top of the first spell, so the copy will resolve first.

If you have both targets copy the Beast Within, the original Narset's Reversal won't have a target when it goes to resolve, so it will fizzle.

You can have the original Reversal target the Beast Within and the copy of Reversal target the original Reversal, creating a copy of it on the stack (targeting Beast Within) and returning the original card to your hand to repeat this process again later. You'd end up with both Beast Within and Narset's Reversal in their owners' hands, your Kalamax gaining three +1/+1 counters, and you controlling a Beast Within copy on the stack.

Does my opponent’s beast within resolve?

No, but they have it in their hand again and can recast it if they have the mana up.
