Isochron Scepter and Revel in Silence Flip
Asked by koylucumert 2 years ago
quick question, can I put revel in silence under isochron scepter? if so, what happens when I activate it? do I only get to cast the front, back, or choose either side?
Rhadamanthus I was under the impression that since Isochron Scepter copies the spell, it'll only have the characteristics of the front, as the back only exists on the stack or the battlefield if it was cast that way

Delphen7 you're right, I wasn't thinking carefully enough. The copy of the imprinted card won't be double-faced. I was thinking of a case where the card itself is getting played. Apologies for the confusion.

No, that won't work. A modal double-faced card only has the characteristics of the back face when the back face gets played. Otherwise the game only considers the front face. You can't imprint Flamescroll Celebrant Flip on Isochron Scepter.
However, if you imprinted a modal DFC that's an Instant of mana value 2 or less on the front face (I don't think any exist yet, but there could be in the future), then you could cast either side after activating the Scepter. Remember that a copy of a permanent spell (if that's the side you actually cast) becomes a token on the battlefield after it resolves.
