is it really that bad of a thing to have more than 60 cards in a deck?

to me, without question, the hardest part about building a deck is deciding what cards NOT to use. and then even after I settle on something that I think is well enough focused and workable I always have that maybe board that's full cards I wish I could find room for. and it seems like even just suggesting say, a 63 card deck is totally rediculous if not just plain stupid to gauge some peoples reactions. it seems to me that if I decide to design a deck that runs a lot of card drawing and/or fetching, it shouldn't be a disadvantage to main board in a couple extra fetchable cards. like for instance, Green Sun's Zenith and Primeval Titan . one card lets me fetch another which in turn lets me fetch and drop two additional lands every turn. of course, green sun's gets shuffled right back in, and by the time I end up having enough mana to go fetch a titan, I'm probably doing so in the interest of thinning my library and increasing my odds of top decking creatures as much as I am getting more land on the board. but still...my point is that I've run decks that don't use any card fetching at all and some with only a couple cards with card drawing effects. why should it be so terrible for a deck that uses things like Garruk, Primal Hunter 's "(-3) draw three cards" to have 62 cards in the main? sure, maybe you're diminishing one of the intended benefits of this ability to a degree but its not like your any worse off than a person running a 60 card deck with very little or no card drawing whatsoever right?
in a short easy phrase 'yes it is very bad to have more than 60 cards in a deck' (unless the format forces you too of course!like EDH needing 99 in deck and a the general in the command zone). someone will no doubt post loads of mathematics to support this but basically having even one more card in the deck dramatically reduces your chances of getting a card you need when it is a 4 of and as well as this it is one more card you might draw in time of need like requiring a land but finding a garruk instead etc etc. to sum up yes making a 61 or greater card deck when everyone else runs 60 is a massive disadvantage. when i started out with a boros deck in ravnica it was extreme at like 73 lol and i used to have fun but that was it. when my mate who had played for ages changed it down to 60 i started to win! it makes a huge difference mate

It just throws off your card odds and the chances of getting any one individual card you need. It screws with your consistency.

adding more cards makes your early game less effective, because you can't get your good cards early on.... the situation you've described.... or others like it can improve the late game.... but in competitive play late game is too late
