Is it possible to have the card Training Grounds and Sliver Queen and produce an infinite amount of 1/1 Slivers?

Asked by bradymtg55 9 years ago

I made a sliver deck and I was playing around with it. I put down the card training grounds which says, "Activated abilities of creatures you control cost 2 less to activate. This effect can reduce the amount of mana an ability costs to activate to less than one mana" and I had a sliver queen which its ability was 2: put a 1/1 sliver creature on the battlefield. Can I infinitely make 1/1 slivers?

Please link all cards you're asking about using TappedOut's card linking syntax. If you need help doing so check out the TappedOut formatting page here.

Sliver Queen
Training Grounds

If you read Training Grounds carefully, you will see that it says it can't reduce the cost to less than one mana, so no, this does not work.

It doesn't work with only those cards. Sliver Queen can produce infinite slivers all sorts of ways though.

Sliver Queen + Training Grounds requires something like haste (like Blur Sliver) and mana generation (like Manaweft Sliver) to produce infinite (mostly tapped) slivers, or some combination of similar effects.

Mana Echoes + Sliver Queen are two cards that produce infinite slivers and colorless mana without any other cards if that's what you'd like to see (but requires 10 mana to play all at once, assuming Mana Echoes is played first).

There's many, many other ways out there. You can search around for them easily.

if you have one of the slivers that give haste, and one of the slivers that lets you produce mana, then yes you could as, the queen's ability would still cost 1 mana to use.
