Intet, the Dreamer

Asked by nochance229 13 years ago

So if I remove an Obliterate with Intet, the Dreamer and wanted to cast it, what happens to the other cards that were removed with Intet's ability? Would they be playable again as soon as Intet returns to the field or do they just disappear into the exiled realm? According to gatherer, yes I cannot play the cards exiled with Intet when he/she/it leaves the battlefield, but mentions nothing about when it comes back into play.

They were removed with that specific instance of Intet, the Dreamer , and would therefore be exiled permanently upon Intet's destruction. Another Intet would start it's own new pile of cards removed from the game.

Kind of like exiling a bunch of stuff with Karn Liberated until it dies and then casting another and using it to restart the game. You don't get the original Karn's exiled cards.

goober1223 is right. Whenever a card uses its own name in an ability (unless it says something like "a card named..."), it means "this one, specifically". If Intet leaves the battlefield, all the cards it exiled are rendered unplayable, even if another Intet shows up.

It's worth nothing that the part of the ability that lets you look at the cards as long as they're exiled isn't dependent on Intet sticking around. You'll be able to keep looking at them, which could be useful information in some cases.

Intet, the DreamerMTG Card: Intet, the Dreamer's ability is a triggered ability, not an activated ability. You can tell because it's written to start with "when", "whenever", or "at", instead of being written as "COST : EFFECT". The ability triggers when Intet deals combat damage, and you can only choose to pay the optional cost it gives you once for each time it triggers.
