Interactions with Dominating Lucid + Kiki-Jiki & Deadeye Navigator
Asked by Ree 12 years ago
I'm building a Lord of Tresserhorn EDH deck and have a couple questions with interactions...
Does a Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker token of Dominating Licid still have to be sacrificed at the end of the turn if it becomes a creature enchantment?
In another case, consider that I have a Dominating Licid as an enchantment and Deadeye Navigator paired with the stolen creature...Is it possible to keep the creature and the Licid by ending the Licid's effect and with the end trigger on the stack, blink the stolen creature?
Ah, thank you.
I didn't realize the ending part of the licid didn't use the stack...that would definitely explain my confusion regarding the card.

The combo in the second part will work, you just have to do it a different way. If Deadeye Navigator and the stolen creature are paired, then activate the blink on the stolen creature, and while the ability still on the stack, end Dominating Licid 's effect. Though your opponent will control the creature at the time the blink starts to resolve, that doesn't stop it from resolving, and you'll get it back.

Hmm, thank you Rhad. I'm not sure why I did not notice to inform him that, but I am guessing the 14 hours of sleep I just got meant I was tired :D

This is way later, but I would just like to point out that this combo won't work for most blink effects. Most blink effects target a creature you control, which mean they would fizzle upon resolving (since you no longer control the dominated creature). Deadeye Navigator doesn't target the creature, but rather gives it an ability, which makes this combo work.

Yes it will be sacrificed at end of turn, even if it turns into an aura.
Ending Dominating licid's effect doesn't use the stack. You can bounce the creature (which will send the licid to the graveyard the next time SBA's are performed) or you can turn the licid back into a creature. With just these cards, you can't do both.
