Interaction between Nekusar and Chains of Mephistopheles

I am working updating my Nekusar wheels deck. In the process, I found Chains of Mephistopheles. When I brought this card up with a buddy as an idea I got told that Chains and Nekusar don't actually interact. Before I spend money on a chard like Chains, I need to confirm. Is there anything preventing this interaction, also with the wheel effects cards?

Chains most certainly combos with wheel effects. You discard to Wheel, go to draw, this is where the Chains Replacement Effect kicks in, which results in everybody milling 7 instead of drawing because nobody can discard because you just discarded to the Wheel. It's a great card if you want to spend the dosh on it.

"If a player would draw a card except the first one they draw in each of their draw steps, that player discards a card instead. If the player discards a card this way, they draw a card. If the player doesn’t discard a card this way, they mill a card."

I guess your friend is right in that you won't get the Nekusar damage triggers because nobody is drawing. Chains will still get you Nekusar triggers off of cards like Font of Mythos, while also nullifying the card advantage from it. Just depends on how you want to build your deck I suppose
