Interaction between Duke Ulder Ravengard and Ancestor Dragon
Asked by CamraMaan 1 year ago
I have Ancestor Dragon and a bland 3/3 creature in play, and I use Duke Ulder Ravengard to give the 3/3 creature myriad. It attacks, triggering myriad and Ancestor Dragon. I then get to arrange the triggers with myriad resolving first, then Ancestor Dragon... the token copies will be in play before the Ancesstor Dragon trigger resolves, so the question is if the trigger on the stack will see the tokens, or if it was put on the stack too early to see them. Not sure how this is supposed to resolve, but I'm hoping I can find a way to gain the 1 life for each token.
Thanks in advance!
Same thing, would Life of the Party get +X/+0 where X includes all the myriad tokens?
I plan to be using a lot of myriad creatures in the deck, hence why I need clarity on these cards.
As always, the help is very much appreciated!

The effects of spells, activated abilities, and triggered abilities (anything that uses the stack) are applied when the object on the stack resolves. If an effect requires information from the game the answer is determined when the effect is applied.
608.2h If an effect requires information from the game (such as the number of creatures on the battlefield), the answer is determined only once, when the effect is applied. If the effect requires information from a specific object, including the source of the ability itself, the effect uses the current information of that object if it’s in the public zone it was expected to be in; if it’s no longer in that zone, or if the effect has moved it from a public zone to a hidden zone, the effect uses the object’s last known information. See rule 113.7a. If an ability states that an object does something, it’s the object as it exists—or as it most recently existed—that does it, not the ability.

Ok, so Ancestor Dragon, Marton Stromgald and Life of the Party will all see how many creatures are in play as their effects resolve on the stack (i.e. as the affects are applied), even if those creatures came into play after the effect went on the stack. This will be a point of contention at the local kitchen table for a few players, so I appreciate the help!

In a similar vein as Ancestor Dragon, could I stack the myriad triggers with the attack trigger of Marton Stromgald so that the tapped and attacking tokens ETB before Stromgald's trigger resolves, having the tokens get included in the creature total for Stromgald?
