Inkmoth Nexus and Glimmervoid

Asked by parasitian 11 years ago

If I have a Glimmervoid in play with no artifacts can I make Inkmoth Nexus a creature so I don't have to sacrifice Glimmervoid ?

To my understanding, both triggers will happen simultaneously, so I think they will resolve simultaneously, so you'll keep your land, since it 'sees' the nexus, kind of like a blood artist, but I'm not sure, so don't blame me if I'm wrong

@KingSorin: No two objects ever resolve simultaneously.

Glimmervoid has a triggered ability with an intervening "if" clause. It will only trigger if, at the beginning of the end step (any player's end step), you control no artifacts. Then, it will only be sacrificed if you still control no artifacts as it resolves.

Inkmoth Nexus has an activated ability. To save your Glimmervoid , you must activate Inkmoth Nexus 's ability any time before the resolution of Glimmervoid 's triggered ability. If you activate it before the beginning of the end step, Glimmervoid 's ability won't even trigger.

Note that your Inkmoth Nexus will revert to its default state during the cleanup step (although your Glimmervoid will be safe by that time).

"Until end of turn" effects like Giant Growth or Inkmoth Nexus wear off at the clean up step, which comes after the end step. Glimmervoid and other "at the beginning of the next end step" triggered abilities trigger at the end step, which comes after the 2nd main phase.

So yes, you can keep your Glimmervoid because you will have control of an artifact: your (still) animated Inkmoth Nexus .
