Illusory Angel vs Descendants' Path
Asked by lil_cheez 10 years ago
May I cheat Illusory Angel via Descendants' Path or the Angel can't be cast because I have not cast anything at the beginning of my upkeep? How should I proceed if Path reveals the Angel?

No. With Descendants' Path , you are still casting the top card, just without paying. You can only cast her if you have played a spell. With Descendant's Path, you are still casting the card.

You would not be able to cast it if you hadn't already cast a spell, however because of the wording on the card it would stay on top of your library and you would draw it as shown by the rulings on the card:
5/1/2012: If the revealed card is a creature card that shares a creature type with a creature you control, but you choose not to cast it, it stays on top of your library.

Thanks guys. I'm probably buiding a deck that uses both so I had to be sure.
@kmcree I couldn't access the site since saturday, but now I'm back :)

To cast the Illusory Angel using Descendants' Path you would have needed to respond to the Path's trigger during your upkeep (before it resolves, so you won't have seen the Angel yet unless some other card allowed you to) with an instant or card with flash. If Path reveals the Angel and you did not cast anything previously in the turn, the Angel gets put on the bottom of your library by the Path.
