If Prototype Portal is destroyed what happens to the imprinted card?

Asked by sethly 14 years ago

If my prototype portal gets destroyed, what happens to the exiled card? Is it just exiled forever or does it go to the graveyard or does it go back in my hand?

Prototype Portal

It gets exiled forever. That's the risk of the Imprint mechanic. Also, if it gets 'bounced' (i.e. Disperse is cast on it) or otherwise removed from the game (Leonin Relic-Warder , say) when gets put back on the battlefield, it has no memory of its previous existence, which means the card you exiled doesn't work with it anymore.

However, in the case of Leonin Relic-Warder , you can imprint another artifact on it when it comes back in if you can destroy the leonin.
